Working with Youth: Tips on Preventing and De-escalating Difficult Behavior
October 11 | 9:00 am - 11:00 am
Foster Community Center (200 N Foster Ave, Lansing, Room 213)
Children and youth are so important to our communities, but they can be difficult to deal with at times. This training aims to familiarize individuals with youth development and behavior, including how behaviors can escalate into acting out and possible harm to self/others. We will explore behaviors as a progression and how adults can help support children and youth at each stage. Participants will reflect on their actions and learn how they play an important role in preventing and de-escalating difficult behaviors. The training materials and handouts are designed so they can be shared with others to encourage teams to have a common language and understanding when dealing with children and youth in their community.
