This multi-day conference brings together Therapeutic Recreation professionals from a variety of backgrounds for educational sessions, networking and the sharing of best practices and programs. TRI helps Therapeutic Recreation professionals stay current and maintain high standards of professional development in a growing and changing industry. CEUs will be available for TRI attendees, making the Institute a great opportunity to maintain your certification as well.

TRI participants can register for both days of the Institute or submit a daily registration to allow for a variety of schedules and budgets.

The RAM Center is home to six rustic lodges. Each lodge has a lounge area with cable TV, refrigerator, coffee machine & microwave and either a shared bathroom or community bathroom. Linens, towels and full housekeeping services are supplied.


Tracey Crawford, CTRS, CPRP
Executive Director, Northwest Special Recreation Association

Tracey Crawford was appointed as the Executive Director at Northwest Special Recreation Association (NWSRA) and the President of Special Leisure Services Foundation (SLSF) in late 2011. NWSRA was formed in 1973 to provide a full spectrum of recreation services to individuals with disabilities. NWSRA is a partnership of 17 park districts in the northwest suburbs of Chicago committed to supporting community access to recreation for people with disabilities.

Angela Croci
Director of Recreational Therapy, Evergreen Health and Rehabilitation Center

Angela Croci is the Director of Recreational Therapy at the Evergreen Health and Rehabilitation Center in Southfield, Michigan. She received Bachelor of Science with emphasis on Therapeutic Recreation from Michigan State University and has been a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist for 16+ years.

Shay Dawson, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor, Therapeutic Recreation, Department of Recreation, Parks and Leisure Services Administration

Dr. Shay Dawson is an Assistant Professor in the Therapeutic Recreation Department at Central Michigan University. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy at the School of Public Health-Bloomington, Indiana University. Dr. Dawson has served as director of the Bradford Woods Therapeutic Recreation program and holds a master's degree in therapeutic recreation from Kent State University, as well as a certification in recreational therapy (CTRS). 


Mike Devlin
Parks and Recreation Specialist, Meridian Township Parks and Recreation

Mike Devlin is a Recreation Specialist for Meridian Township. Coach Mike has more than 20 years of comprehensive experience in the field of Parks and Recreation and sports management. He has exceptional strengths and ability in creating, establishing and leading multiple youth-adult recreation athletic sports leagues that places an emphasis on participants’ development and healthy attitudes of physical activity and sportsmanship.
