Advocacy in Action | Celebrate the Power of Parks and Recreation
Wednesday, June 24, 2026 l 10:00 am 2:00 pm
Join mParks for a day of outdoor connection, movement, and fun on the Capitol Lawn in Lansing! More than 2,000 children and youth from park and recreation programs across Michigan will gather to engage in hands-on activities that highlight the positive impact of parks and recreation in communities statewide.
This annual event creates a unique opportunity for state lawmakers and their staff to experience firsthand how local parks and recreation spaces support physical activity, social connection, and learning outside the classroom.
On the Capitol Lawn, interactive stations will be arranged for groups to rotate through during their visit. The space will be divided into four color-coded zones — Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow — with each offering a range of inclusive and engaging activities. Groups should plan to spend approximately 30 minutes in each area and are encouraged to explore all that each zone has to offer.
Let’s celebrate how parks and recreation support thriving, healthy communities — for everyone.
